# The Mariyyah Aziz Collection

> A UI/UX designer building considered Arabic and English interfaces that start from what the user actually needs.

Mariyyah Aziz Aljahdali is a UI/UX Designer based in Saudi Arabia.
This site presents her work as a museum: the collection is arranged into four wings by the
context each piece was made in, every work carries a wall label giving its medium, year and
commissioner, and the galleries are introduced by wall texts and interpretive plaques.
It is published in Arabic (default, at the root) and English (under /en).

- **User experience (UX)** (تجربة المستخدم): The whole of what a person understands and feels while using something: before they begin, while they are in it, and after they are done.
- **User interface (UI)** (واجهة المستخدم): The surface where a person meets a system: what they can see, what they can touch, and what they are able to do.
- **User research** (بحث المستخدم): Studying the people who will use a product — by watching, asking and testing — before decisions are made rather than after.
- **Wireframe** (المخطط الهيكلي): A preliminary drawing that fixes what appears on a screen and where, with no colour and no final typography.
- **Prototype** (النموذج التفاعلي): A version of a design that can actually be tried — enough to test an idea without building the whole product.
- **Design system** (نظام التصميم): The agreed decisions — colour, type, spacing, components — from which all of a product's interfaces are built, documented so that everyone uses them the same way.
- **Right-to-left (RTL) design** (التصميم من اليمين إلى اليسار): Designing an interface that reads right to left, as Arabic does, so that direction, layout and motion are mirrored — not only the text.
- **Accessibility** (إمكانية الوصول): Making a product usable by as many people as possible, including those using a screen reader or a keyboard alone, and those who see colour differently.
